The former medical center chief defeated a county sheriff to become the mayor-elect of financially troubled Detroit. The job is a little more than a figure head while the city is being run by a state-appointed emergency manager. Nonetheless, we have the first white mayor of Detroit in 40 years. Are we moving towards color bind on both sides of the coin?
